- You must be willing to work 5 days a week on site with the research and development team in Corsham Wiltshire (there is no hybrid working with this role).
- This is a generalist role that will expose you to many different aspects of accounting.
- The team will deliver the complete finance function for the whole business, responsible for: financial compliance, providing accounting information, and contributing to the scale up of the company.
You will be responsible for delivering on a general set of finance topics including but not limited to:
- Transactional/financial operations – inputting invoices on the system, organising payment runs and ensuring the operational team spend within budget.
- Management accounting – preparing management accounts to help run the business, variance analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and building business cases.
- Financial accounting – preparing statutory accounts and assisting in filing them at companies house.
- Tax reporting – submitting VAT returns, assisting in submitting corporation tax returns (CT600s) and learning about and applying for R&D tax credits.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings.
- Report back on the company’s financial performance.
- Support the senior finance manager in running the finance function.
- Use AI and software to improve financial process’.
- Help the innovation manager win grants by providing compelling financials and business cases.
- Experience
This role requires a qualified accountant with previous experience in accounts preparation and other financial disciplines.

This role requires you to show that you are capable of delivering success as part of your day to day working.
- Team working
It is essential that you can work in a small team and be flexible, this will enable the finance function to meet the business’s needs.
- Ability to learn
Due to the size of the company and flexibility requirements of working in a start up you will need to be able to learn new topics.

Expertise
Essential:
- Qualified Accountant ACA, CIMA or ACCA
- Desire to work in startup/scale up
- Experience with Microsoft excel
- Ability to be flexible and a generalist
- Organised self-starter
- Willing to input invoices onto the system (or build an AI that does it for you).
Desirable:
- Interest in biological technology / groundbreaking sciences.
- Group accountant experience.
- Experience with Xero accounting software is advantageous.
- Experience with Futrili, Airwallex, Approval Max, Fathom.
- Experience with coding is advantageous.
- Desire to use AI to improve financial process’ and reporting.
